Succulents are wonderful plants that are so easy to grow. They thrive in sunny well drained areas.

Sempervivums (hen & chicks) are a hardy succulent alpine plant. The name sempervivum means "live-forever". They are well adapted to survive in some of the poorest soil and drought conditions. Sempervivums form low-growing rosettes of succulent leaves with a variety of colors ranging from pink, red, purple and green. Each rosette produces new offsets that root quickly. Left to grow on their own, these clumps will spread to form beautiful dense cushions of attractive growth. This use of textures creates a visual interest in your garden.

Jovibarbas are another hardy succulent plant. They are often called "Rollers" because baby chicks sit precariously atop the mother plant, only to roll off and create a family of their own.

These unique plants can be planted in containers also, hypertofa pots, strawberry pots or just about any container that provides good drainage. Be creative…try planting your watering can (put holes in the bottom first).
